The Section Archivist is an appointed position responsible for maintaining historical records.

Overview

Duties

The duties of the Archivist include the following:

  • Maintain and curate possession of physical and electronic records, including proceedings sets and administrative records and correspondence.
  • Digitize physical records, where appropriate.
  • Provide the Board of Advisors, including officers and chairs, with copies or summaries of Section historical records.
  • Provide third parties such as The Combustion Institute, with knowledge an/or consent of the Secretary or Chair with copies or summaries of Section historical records.
  • Compile topical or historical summaries for use by Section officials, or for the public.
  • Maintain the Section wiki sites.

Powers

Limits

The Archivist serves by appointment of the Section Chair on advice and approval of the Board of Advisors. The appointment has no term limit. The Archivist sits on the Board ex officio, but without voting rights and quorum standing, and reports to the Secretary.


History

Creation

The Archivist position was created by action of the Chair, with assent of the Board, during the Board meeting of 2019-03-24. The position was codified in the By-Laws revision of 2021-05-21.
