The Section offers several awards or honorific designations, as follows:
- Outstanding Student Presentation Award – Given for outstanding presentations by a student at each biennial Spring Technical Meeting
- James E. Peters Student Fellowship – Given to one student to travel to and present at the International Symposium on Combustion
- James E. Peters Plenary Lecture – A designated plenary presentation at each biennial Spring Technical Meeting
