The Section offers several awards or honorific designations, as follows:
- Outstanding Student Presentation Award — Given for outstanding presentations by a student at each biennial Spring Technical Meeting
- James E. Peters Student Fellowship — Given to one student to travel to and present at the International Symposium on Combustion
- James E. Peters Plenary Lecture — A designated plenary presentation at each biennial Spring Technical Meeting
- Early Career Award — Awarded to a professional within ten years of the start of their professional career
